Maple tree Tapping: Done

Posted: 25/02/2019

Tapping is over and everything went well. However, we still have a lot of shoveling to do because winter has been a rough one and there is snow over the main pipes at some places in the forest.

Maple tree Tapping is on

Even though the quebec region received massive snowfalls from the beginning of the month,  we started tree tapping and it is going well. maple Trees are healty and snow is the only factor that slow us down. We are expecting to finish tapping by the end of february. Stay tuned for the latest developments.

Winter is knocking at the door

Quebec weather is synonym of extreme variations and we all know that. But this year winter arrived very early and the ground is covered with a thick layer of snow for two weeks. Winter is generally installed in the beginning of december. What does it mean for trees? Its not a big deal for maple trees because their growing period is already over, they are on ''sleeping mode'' for few weeks already. Its a huge contrast compared to the extrordinary summer we had. Keep smile and go outside! thats the way we see it, winter is such a great occasion for outdoor activities.

Summertime means worktime at Érablière Perreault inc.

Posted: 22/08/2018

Every summer, a lot of work is done at Perrot Sweet Maple's sugar bush. All this work is necessary to keep the pipes that collects maple sap effective and the maple trees productive. We  realise a lot of forest management like cutting the dangerous trees and dig canals to clear water out of the soil. With all that work done, the future generation will benefit and continue to produce without trouble.

2018 Dominion&Grimm Open doors

Perrot Sweet Maple was invited to the 2018 Dominion & Grimm open doors that took place last week-end in Sainte-Claire, Québec. We installed a stand and offered free maple popcorn and maple sugar packets to the visitors. The event was a big succes, a huge number of people came by our stand to say hello and taste our products.

Not too bad

After all the ups and downs of Mother Nature, we can say that the maple sugaring season has been a little bit below the average of a normal season of maple sap harvesting. The team greatly managed to optimize the quantity of sap going in the evaporator. We are still grateful of the opportunity we have to live from our passion: maple syrup production. Many projects are on the table for the summer season. Stay tuned on our website or on our Facebook page ( facebook logo at the top of the website).

Slow Beginning of the sugaring season

Posted: 11/04/2018

Even though the maple sugaring season started very early (end of February) it slowed down a lot when an exeptionnal cold weather hit the region the past week. We are still in this cold weather, so the maple trees are frozen until the middle of the afternoon. The harvest of the maple sap is very thin and we hope it is going to restart soon!
